Sketch Challenge

 I’ve never done a sketch challenge before, but when I saw this sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, I thought it would be fun to play along! 


Here’s how my card went together – 


*base is Very Vanilla – 4 1/4 x 11 – scored at 5 1/2
*next layer is also Very Vanilla – cut 4 x 5 1/4
*For the focal point of the card – I used a layer of Basic Black cardstock, and a layer of Typeset Specialty Designer Paper – both cut 2 1/2 by 3 1/4 
* after I attached these two layers to the card front, I wrapped linen thread three times around all layers.  
*my bird is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink -, as is my word stamp “Love Life” 
*I used crumb cake ink to sponge the edges of the Very Vanilla Layers and also added some splotches with a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp set.  Gorgeous Grunge – a must have stamp set in my opinion! It has a permanent home on my stampin’ table!

    Laura, This card is wonderful. It's not only beautiful but it is clean & simple too! CAS is my favorite. I love the colors you've used and of course the Freshly Made Sketch – I think from Amy this month is a super one. Fabulous job on your first sketch. It's funny I think I have actually only done one sketch over the years myself. Sure don't know why – it's such a wonderful starting point. TFS,,, Barb

    Laura – this card came out great! I'm not a fan of this particular stamp, but leaving it uncolored, makes it look great. I love hummingbirds, but just didn't feel it with this one, your creation however, changes my mind!
